Daejeon, The Heart of the Korean Peninsula
Daejeon is located in the heart of the Korean peninsula and forms a major transportation cross-roads, with the major north-south highways and rail lines splitting to follow the east or west sides of the country.

Geographically situated in the central region of the Korean peninsula, the city Daejeon gives the best possible environment for excellence in research and education.

Daejeon is home of high caliber organizations such as the Daedeok R&D Innopolis, the Multi-functional Administrative City, the Daejeon Government Complex, and the Headquarters of the Korean Army, Air Force, and Navy.

The 5th Largest City
Daejeon, with its population of 1.5 million, is the fifth-largest city in South Korea.

'Mecca' of Science and Technology
Daejeon boasts the best R&D capability in Korea. As a world-class 'Mecca' of science and technology, Daejeon is host to 5 universities and 70 research institutes that include universities, government funded research centers and privately owned institutes. The "Daedeok Innopolis" is comprised of approximately 800 corporations, providing over 20,000 jobs for residents of Daejeon. Functioning under UNESCO, one can also find the headquarters of the World Technopolis Association (WTA) in Daejeon, strengthening the City's renowned reputation for science and technology.

Also populating the area are 10% of the nation's researchers who hold Ph.Ds in Engineering. In addition, 23% of the nations research equipment is located here and 24% of national R&D budget is invested in Daedeok R&D Innopolis every year.

The Future 'Era of Central Dominance' of Korea
Daejeon is home to many central government agencies, as well as the headquarters of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. With the infrastructure already in place, the plan to develop a Multifunctional Administrative City(MAC) that combines Daejeon, Cheonan and Cheongju, will establish Daejeon as the focal point of the future "Era of Central Dominance" of Korea.

270,000 Years of History
The history of Daejeon dates back to the Old Stone Age, which was over 270,000 years ago. Under the influence of "Uam Song Si-yeol," the compiler of the Sung Confucianism, Daejeon was known as a City of Gentlemen. Modern Daejeon grew rapidly with the relocation of the Chungnam Provincial Office from Gongju. The creation of the Daedeok Research Complex in 1974, the transfer of the ROK Force headquarters in 1989, and the establishment of the Daejeon Government Complex in 1998 have all contributed to the importance of Daejeon in central Korea.

Culture: Diversity and Generosity
Visitors to the City often remark on the friendliness and generosity of its local residents. Designated as the Nation's MICE city, Daejeon strives to become the foremost hospitable community in Korea. For cultural tours there is the Daejeon Culture and Arts Center, Municipal Museum of Arts and you can also visit the Baekjae Cultural Zone nearby as it is the point of contact of Korea. Also there are various kinds of experience tours such as making Korean potteries, lifting Insam, all this is possible with-in one hour's drive from Daejeon.
